Wine fromp grapes from a selection of various locations around Ribeauvillé
The Louis SIPP parcels of land are situated in the geological fracture zone of Ribeauvillé. They constitute a territory which is highly geologically fragmented. They are above areas with hard chalk, clay and marl from the Liassic and Triassic periods, sandstone clay, and calcareous, chalky conglomerates from the Oligocene period. The area is also characterised by silt-laden deposits, originally loessial, and by glacis and sandy alluvium in the valley and on the plain.
Pinot Gris is for the most part found in soils which are heavy and not too hot. The variety can cope with areas which are less well exposed, because it is relatively early-fruiting.
Wine presenting a beautiful golden yellow color with amber notes. The nose is complex, with honeyed notes as well as touches of exotic fruits. Wine from a fresh vintage, with a relatively dry balance and therefore very gastronomic.
Perfect pairing with foie gras, exotic dishes and deserts. It is also a good idea to enjoy it with hard chesse like Comté, Beaufort...
After a short winter break, the growing cycle started exceptionally early beginning of April under very dry conditions (16 and 26 mm of rain in March resp. April). The few May precipitations allowed the initial development of the vines. The flowering took place in June under nice and sunny conditions. Some rain came in July and allowed a good development of the grapes. A relatively fresh month of August helped to maintain the acidities in the fruits during the maturation process. The harvest started mi September under ideal weather conditions with only 35 mm avec the 4 weeks of harvest.
