Marl limestone terroirs around Ribeauvillé.
The Louis SIPP parcels of land are situated in the geological fracture zone of Ribeauvillé. They constitute a territory which is geologically highly fragmented. They are above areas with hard chalk, clay and marl from the Liassic and Triassic periods, sandstone clay, and calcareous, chalky conglomerates from the Oligocene period. The area is also characterised by silt-laden deposits, originally loessial, and by glacis and sandy alluvium in the valley and on the plain
This Réserve Personnelle has been elaborated from grapes coming from marl limestone terroirs wich are kwown for giving fine and well structured wines.
Beautiful yellow dress. Expressive nose with delicate aromas of spices and citrus fruits. Wine to be tasted on freshness and elegance, with structure and fruit on the palate to give a very digestible Gewurztraminer.
From a classical point of view: Foie gras, strong cheeses like Munster, Roquefort or Stilton, cakes and sweet dishes do go very well with this Gewurztraminer. But it can also be appreciated with Asiatic and exotic and spicy cuisines. This wine displays a structure that allows pairings with strong dishes.
May be enjoyed immediately.
After a mild but humid winter, the reserves in ground water could be regenerated.
The vines started their development on a normal date mid-april. The fruit potential was great but a high pressure of diseases due to heavy rainfalls reduced it significantly. Thanks to a very dry and hot summer the remaining grapes could be preserved under very good conditions.
Finally, the 2016 wines show good maturity with great tension.
