The 2006 vintage
Due to a fresh and rainy spring, the vines started to grow around April 25. The hot and sunny days that followed, initiated the flowering under good conditions. The nice days in July, and the cooler and more humid period in August, made it possible to preserve excellent acidity/sugar ratios. The ideal September weather conditions allowed us to start harvesting the Crémant d’Alsace as from the 20th. Later in the month, the harvest conditions turned out to be less favourable with a hot and rainy period which lead us to pick the Riesling earlier than foreseen and to postpone the harvest of the other noble grape varieties. Our vineyard currently in conversion toward organic farming resisted very well to this quite unusual climate. As the anti-cyclone went back in October we could harvest nice Vendanges Tardives and superb Sélection de Grains Nobles (concentrated and well balanced by acidity). Once more, only those who were patient and who respect the Nature have been rewarded!
Finally this very difficult vintage will give us some excellent wines, as it has been released by the all first tastings.
