Indian summer for the wine-harvest 2005
Last October 19th, after one month of wine-harvest, we picked Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives grapes the last day. With the exception of 3 rainy days, the wine-harvest could be achieved under favourable weather conditions.
Well installed anti-cyclonic conditions in mid October allowed us to make a break in order to wait for the development of Noble Rot for the production of Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles wines with high level of aromatic purity.
These conditions lead us to think that the 2005 vintage will be excellent. No drought and the cool nights in Summer combined with the Indian Summer in September and beginning of October allowed us to pick mature grapes with interesting levels of freshness (acidity). Thanks to our smart and environmental friendly vineyard management as well as the low crop, the grapes only harvested by hand were in perfect shape especially Muscat, Riesling, Pinot Auxerrois, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir.
